How We Are Safeguarding Against Corona Virus
Mundo Manía’s Response to Coronavirus Concerns
With the inundation of sensationalistic headlines about Coronavirus, you’re rightly concerned to think how best to protect you and your family’s health. While we’re satisfied that the threat level is extremely low here, safety is our highest concern at Mundo Manía, so we’d like to take the time to let you know the precautions we’re taking and put your mind at ease too.
What is Coronavirus?
The Coronavirus (CoVID-19) is a strain of virus that, before now, was limited to animals and not humans. It causes mild symptoms, similar to the common cold, which can become more severe, especially for the elderly or those with weakened immune system due to long-term illness. Children are amongst the lowest in danger from the virus, according to a report released by the Joint Mission and the World Health Organization-China.
How Can I Protect Myself From Coronavirus?
Although the chances of you catching the Coronavirus are extremely low (and the chances of you getting seriously sick because of it much, much lower), as with any virus, there are some standard practices you can adopt to protect yourself.
1. Wash your Hands
Wash your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer regularly, especially if they’re visibly dirty, after coughing or sneezing, when caring for the sick, before, during and after you prepare food, before eating, after using the toilet, and after touching animals. To make this easier for you and your family when visiting us, we’ve installed hand sanitizer dispensers at Mundo Manía for everyone to use as frequently as you like (we also have personal-sized bottles available for purchase at reception). We’ve also stocked up on antibacterial hand soap in all our bathrooms, and are generously and routinely using antibacterial cleaners on all our tables, chairs and play surfaces.
2. Build Up Your Immune System
All illnesses can become more severe if your immune system is weakened. Therefore, beyond washing your hands regularly and thoroughly, the best precaution is to keep your immune system as strong as possible. Some great ways to do this are:
Eat Healthy
You are what you eat! Healthier foods equate to healthier bodies, so eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is a great way to not only prevent you from catching a virus but also limit the length and severity of it. Vitamin C (find it in kiwi, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, pitaya, acai, goji and red bell pepper) protects cells and tissues, vitamins and minerals from green leafy vegetables (think broccoli, spinach, and kale) are natural virus-fighters too, as are nuts, nut butters and seeds (rich in minerals like zinc). And yoghurt (full of ‘friendly bacteria’ probiotics) is another great ways to eat your way to a healthier immune system.
Keep up your healthy eating while you’re visiting us at Mundo Manía! Our superb chef has created a delicious and nutritious menu that kids and adults will love! Full of healthy lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks that taste so good, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that our culinary offering is not your average kids’ play centre food!
Get Plenty of Exercise
Regular exercise is a cornerstone to a healthy lifestyle. Staying active improves the cardiovascular system, lowers blood pressure, builds muscle and has a direct impact on your body’s ability to fight off illnesses, by literally making the cells in your body younger.
Kids are naturally more energetic, so why not let them get the healthy exercise they crave in the form of lots of active fun at our kids play centre in Estepona.
With a large indoor play frame, indoor table games, outdoor trampolines and multi-sport pitches you can let them run, jump, climb, slide and play their way to a healthier immune system! In March we are also running Active Fun sessions every Saturday – 11am to 12pm for 4 to 7 year olds and 12pm to 1pm for 8 to 12 year olds. These sessions will include games, sporting activities, kids cross fit and more! It’s the perfect way for kids to get fit whilst having fun! Places are limited so don’t forget to pre-book your space.
Minimize Stress
Mind and body are closely linked, and a variety of illnesses have been shown to be directly linked to higher levels of stress. Although difficult to define, as everyone has their own definition of stress in their life, to help you stay healthy, it’s important to limit stress triggers, especially in kids, who can be more vulnerable and less able to self-regulate their emotions. During the Coronavirus outbreak, The World Health Organization specifically recommends reducing stress in kids by keeping to regular routines (including playtime) as much as possible, keeping them close and offering extra attention if they start showing signs of anxiety and making and offering opportunities to play and relax.
What better play to unwind than at Mundo Manía where kids can have fun and be themselves, all while letting mom & dad relax knowing they are safe? Our play areas are set up into age-appropriate zones for toddlers, kids and teens, plus there is lots of outdoor space for outdoor play. We also run regular activities and workshops, so there is always something new to get your kids involved with.
