Father’s Day: Gifts and Family Activities to Celebrate Dad

To coincide with Saint Joseph’s Day (to celebrate the adoptive father of Jesus, considered the perfect example of a good father), Father’s Day here is Spain is celebrated on March 19. And although Covid measures have put plenty of restrictions in place in Estepona, Marbella, and beyond, there’s still lots of ways you can celebrate your dad, granddad, stepdad, or other important men in your life this month! Check out some of these great ideas you can do to honour your dad on his special day and send us some photos of your family fun doing them so that we can publish them online and recognize all those amazing Father’s we have on the Costa del Sol!

Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Spoil dad this year with a gift he’s sure to love! From simple to extravegant, Estepona is full of incredible shops where you can find some great gifts and support local businesses in these difficult tumes.

How about a set of walkie-talkies so that Dad and the kids can keep in touch whilst out walking on the paseo or in the campo. Or perhaps a watch so dad can keep track of time and maintain a healthy work-life balance, especially relevant if he’s working from home this year; or an arrangement of his favourite flowers delivered by one of Estepona’s professional florists? Of course, something sentimental is always a great gift, too. How about a beautifully framed photo for his desk, personalised keychain so he can keep it close all day, or handmade craft that shows off the kid’s creativity and love that they have for their dad? And even for those who don’t celebrate Father’s Day until June, a handmade card this (or any) month to tell him just how much he’s loved and appreciated is always appreciated by dads. Just remember, that if you prefer to buy your Father’s Day cards, don’t forget to pick up two now so that you have one at the ready in June!

Things to Do With Dad

If this Father’s Day you prefer to give the gift of time (highly recommended!), there is a plethora of things to do in and around Estepona. And this year, with Father’s Day falling on a Friday, you have an entire weekend to celebrate! Why not gift Dad a sand-castle kit and then spend the day at one of Estepona’s beautiful beaches building one together, followed by lunch in one of Estepona’s amazing restaurants? Or perhaps a family movie or board game night at home, a picnic in the Sierra Blanca campo (perfect if you have fur babies celebrating Father’s Day this year, too!), stock up on some arts and crafts supplies and let your creativity flow as a family, roast hotdogs and make s’mores in a backyard barbeque (add in a tent and turn it into a garden camping trip!), join a tik-toc challenge with the older kids, visit Estepona’s Museum of Paleontology and gawk at the dinosaurs and fossils, or tour our beautiful town and discover all the fascinating murals, unique sculptures, or even hidden spooky sites that it’s known for. No matter what you do, getting to spend quality time with dad is the most important thing, so don’t worry too much about specifics and just get out there and have fun!

Although Covid restrictions mean that Mundo Mania remains closed, we are still committed to helping you enjoy moments of family fun in Estepona. We look forward to re-opening as soon as we are allowed (follow us on Facebook and Instagram for up-to-date information on re-opening plans!) but in the meantime we would love to see all your family adventures in and around Estepona and along the Costa del Sol, so don’t forget to tag us in all your fun photos this Father’s Day!
